Experts say conservative driving and proper maintenance can improve your car's fuel economy. That means driving at posted speed limits and keeping your tires, engine and transmission at their peak condition.
Designers are also making vehicles more fuel efficient. More streamlined cars are being made, which will drag less at high speeds and consume less energy. New engines, such as the cylinder deactivation technology used in the latest Chevy Tahoe, also conserve fuel by running on fewer cylinders when necessary to save power. Experts say these new innovations, along with proper driving and maintenance, can save a tank of gas every other month.
